The May edition of the informative newsletter – Lusophone Africa Snapshot – created by CMS Portugal's Lusophone Africa practice area, in partnership with CMS LBR, is now available.
This month's opening article shares the testimony of Paralegal Carla Oliveira, from CMS LBR, and Trainee Lawyer João Quintela, from CMS Portugal, on their experience and learning journey with the Lusophone Africa team.
Together, they state that:
“The contact with two jurisdictions and two legal systems—which, despite their differences, complement each other—has been truly enriching, allowing us to respond effectively to our clients' needs.”

In this month's “Did you know...” section, we analyse the legal framework on the transfer of a company or establishment in the labour field, in terms of the forms of transfer, the duty of information, and effects of the transfer of the undertakings, clarifying the question “Did you know that the transfer of a company or establishment does not constitute grounds for termination of the employment contract?”
In the Green Corner, we highlight: energy challenges in Africa in terms of reliable access to energy, environmental sustainability, and equitable distribution; the honourable mention “Anonymous Heroes” awarded by Forbes to three associations that promoted sustainable development, education with health, and environmental preservation in disadvantaged communities; and the investment by the EU and the Global Environment Facility in Mozambique, of €14 million to create four ecological corridors linking the Limpopo and Banhine Parks in Gaza province.
As usual, you will also find the latest Business and Legal News in Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe.
