CMS Portugal, in collaboration with CMS LBR, launches the April edition of the Lusophone Africa Snapshot, with a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of economic and legal developments in the Lusophone African Countries.
In this month's opening article, signed by Silvino Domingo, Partner at CMS LBR, and Richad Majid, Senior Associate at CMS Portugal, we mark the event organised by us in Luanda, on March 26, where we analysed the first year since the new General Labour Law came into force. The initiative was attended by the Labor Inspectors, Dr. Raul Nicolau, Dr. Daniel Filipe and Dr. Yara da Silva, representing the Inspector General of Labor, Dr. Manuel Bole, and focused on debating the main changes in labor legislation.
The CMS lawyers point out: "Labor legislation has been in a remarkable dynamic. Since the entry into force of the new General Labor Law, the new Labor Procedure Code, the new legal regime for non-resident foreign workers, the new legal regime for temporary work contracts and the provision of temporary workers, the new catalog of professions in the oil sector and the new regime for labor offenses have already been published (...)".
In the “Did you know that...” section, we look at the new system of labor offenses: the scope; the existing typology; the criteria for determining fines and the procedure for offenses.
In the Green Corner we highlight: the coconut biodiesel project launched in Mozambique to boost renewable energies and rural economic growth; the agreement between ‘Sociedade Angolana de Gestão Urbana’ and ‘Nova Era’, which aims to boost sustainable projects and promote environmental preservation in Angola; and, also in Angola, the approval of the Framework Agreement on the Establishment of the International Solar Alliance.
