CMS Portugal, in partnership with CMS LBR, has just released the March 2025 edition of the Lusophone Africa Snapshot, providing a detailed analysis of economic and legal developments in Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP).
This month’s opening article, authored by Luís Borba Rodrigues, Managing Partner at CMS LBR, highlights the Business Forum held in Pretoria, where political and business leaders gathered to discuss and strengthen bilateral cooperation between South Africa and Angola.
"Three words summarize the key objectives of the Business Forum: mutual understanding, dialogue, and cooperation. In the new era we live in, reaffirming these values—synonymous with trade, global markets, and peace—is crucial. Surely, our clients share this perspective," notes Luís Borba Rodrigues, Managing Partner at CMS LBR.
In the March edition's "Did you know that..." section, we explored the Consortium Agreement regime in Angola.
In the Green Corner we highlight: the 3rd Meeting of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserves Network, in São Tomé and Príncipe, to discuss biodiversity and the inclusion of new countries in the Network; the partnership between BODIVA and UNDP to strengthen sustainable finance in Angola; and Angola's new strategy to combat the impacts of drought and improve water access, presented at the UN Water conference.
As always, this edition also covers the latest Business and Legal News in Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe, including Cape Verde’s economic growth, Guinea-Bissau’s new cooperation agreements with Russia, and Mozambique’s new credit line for SMEs.
